Did parties field different age cohorts? Which cohort actually won? This page aggregates declared ages from candidate affidavits across every contested seat in the Tamil Nadu 2026 Assembly Election. NOTA is excluded; independents (IND) are broken out separately.
Median age fielded vs median age won — by party

Age-band strike rate — top parties
Within each party, how many candidates in each age band were fielded, and how many of those won. Reads as won / contested. The band where a party converts best is the cohort it leans on.
Independents (IND) — separate lens
Independents are roughly half of all contested rows but won zero seats. We exclude them from party-vs-party comparisons because they'd dominate every chart by sheer count.
Methodology: ages are taken from declared candidate affidavits filed with the Election Commission of India. Coverage is 94% across all contested candidates (3,787 of 4,023). Where a candidate's age was not declared, they are excluded from age-band stats but counted in contested/won totals so seat tallies stay correct. NOTA (None of the Above) is excluded entirely — it is a non-vote option, not a candidate.
